This is probably an accurate description of the approach many of us take in networking. Why am I harping on the word 'assumption'? Because with networking it's easy to assume that it's a mere matter of "meeting people" and "talking to them". That's the standard image that floats around in our heads and it's the mistake that leads to so many mistakes while networking.
